Small Business Success
The launch of the Geelong Small Business Festival (1st – 31st August) has prompted us to reflect on the importance of small business to our local and state economy. There are over 16,000 businesses currently operating in Geelong, accounting for over 96 per cent of the city’s total business. They are a major contributor to our local economy and a major employing sector.
At Davidsons we have a proud history of working closely with the region’s small businesses. We build close relationships that allow a deep understanding of each business and their individual requirements. We view these relationships as partnerships and the Davidson’s team directly support our clients by actively using their services and buying their products.
Last week our General Manager – Michelle Lee attended a roundtable discussion with Victorian Small Business Commissioner – Judy O’Connell. An outcome from Michelle’s meeting was a reminder about some of the great services the Victorian Small Business Commission (VSBC) offers and we felt it timely to remind you, our clients.
The VSBC was established to create a fair and competitive environment for Victorian small businesses to operate, grow and prosper through its four key functions;
• Advocate – Advocate on issues affecting small businesses and their operating environment
• Dispute Resolution - Provide an efficient and low cost small business dispute resolution service
• Monitor - Monitor the impact of market trends, legislation and government policies on small business
• Engage – Connect with the small business community to promote VSBC services and encourage informed decision making
These services are available to any self-claimed “small business”!
