The Leadership Line

The leadership line can be useful to better understand ‘what drives what’ in Davidsons work teams.

1. Leadership

Leadership can be divided into 3 areas of behavior.

i/ People
ii/ Core Business
iii/ Development

Our culture of “leadership” means those with leadership responsibilities both personally & professionally face a number of challenges and / or opportunities

i/ to maintain a commitment to ongoing development in all of the above 3 areas
ii/ to ensure the priorities we choose are chosen ‘very carefully’
iii/ to understand the equation: Events + Response = Outcome

2. The Climate

The climate has 4 components

i/ Empathy: the People issues
ensure people are understood

ii/ Clarity: the Core Business issues
enabling, encouraging roles to be clarified

iii/ Engagement: the Core Business issues
team work, empowerment, ownership

iv/ Learning the Development issues
feedback, employee development, behavior change

The way to change the climate is to change behaviors and /or processes.
As a general rule, the causes of organizational or team concerns are found in this area.

3. Staff Motivation

This includes

i/ the positive component – morale and the
ii/ negative component – stress

4. Organisational Performance

This is the agreed team and/ or organizational KPI’s. They might include

i/ Client Satisfaction
ii/ Work Throughput
iii/ Targets met etc
